To bolster AI advancements, the US government signs an $80 billion deal with Westinghouse to build new, large-scale nuclear plants. The agreement involves help from Uranium fuel provider, Cameco, and Brookfield Asset Management. The government will provide financial and licensing support to bolster the nuclear power plant construction projects.

This $80 billion agreement would be one of the largest US government energy projects by budget. In return, the government will receive a 20% share of the profits once all debt has been paid out to Brookfield and Cameco, a profit of $17.5 billion to them.

The AP1000 reactor will be the type to be constructed. Two of these were recently completed at the Vogtle power plant in Georgia in 2023 and 2024, nearly seven years behind schedule. These two plants cost around $35 billion dollars in total. This goes to show you the magnitude of this recent nuclear deal of $80 billion.

The new administration has promised an energy revolution and so far many plans and investments have been made. Large tech companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google are investing heavily in nuclear plant deployments and this new investment by the Trump administration marks the next step towards nuclear power production.
