Texas Governor Gregg Abbott discusses the possibility of adding more nuclear power to their grid. As of now, the state already has two operating nuclear providing just under 10% of their electricity generation. That’s over four times less than the amount produced by greenhouse gasses.

Abbott says that the state of texas will look into the feasibility of nuclear tk insure that it is a safe and reliable alternative to polluting fossil fuels.

The Governor recently joined a panel with CEO nuclear start up, X-Energy. The company plans to begin building small modular reactors to implement for the DOW chemical plant near Corpus Christi.

Texas was recently hit hard by below freezing temperatures that ended up locking up their power generation, leaving millions of people without electricity. This vulnerability could be mitigated with the consideration of other energy solutions such as nuclear.
