Constellation, a leader in clean energy production has signed a deal with Microsoft to bring one of the Three Mile Island nuclear reactors back on line.

Microsft has been a large advocate for nuclear energy as they search for ways to make up for the impending surge in power consumption from their data centers to run AI. Microsoft founder Bill Gates even has his own nuclear reactor design company, TerraPower.

Once the plant aims to produce around 835 MW of electricity which is enough to power more than enough data centers, along with the state of Pennsylvania. This plant would contribute almost 4% of the energy consumed in the state of Pennsylvania. This would be equivalent to over 800,000 homes.

Constellation hopes to have the plant up and running by 2028. The terms of the deal and investment between Constellation and Microsoft have not been revealed yet.

This is a great path for Nuclear as the two companies join to bring on power for the new wave of technology in AI.
